KUALA LUMPUR, June 18 (Bernama) — After the first Cyber Defence & Security Exhibition and Conference (CYDES) which was organised virtually in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event’s second edition that aims to create awareness on the importance of embracing and embedding cyber security, will be held physically from July 10 until 13 this year.
Organised by the National Security Council (MKN), National Cyber Security Agency (NASCA) and Alpine Integrated Solution Sdn Bhd (Alpine), CYDES 2023’s main objective is to bring the who’s who in Malaysia responsible for the cyber security agenda in this country together to meet, deliberate and exchange insights.
Alpine managing director Anita Jacobson said CYDES 2023 is a national event which serves as a powerful platform for showcasing expertise, solutions and cutting edge technology that aims to combat present and future cyber security threats.
“The event aims to also shed clarity on the roles and responsibilities of the stakeholders including all ministries and government agencies who form the National Cyber Security Eco System. At the same time, all the forums and engagement platforms to be conducted during the four-day event will be vital to the ultimate goal of securing our digital landscape,” she told Bernama in an exclusive interview recently.
Anita said CYDES 2023 would be held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), here, with 200 companies and agencies from more than 10 countries including ASEAN members expected to participate at the event.
“We are also anticipating the attendance of some 5,000 visitors including government officials and delegates over the four days. I belief our National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) intends to also use this platform to host our international partners for face-to-face engagement in order to intensify and reinforce our international cooperation ties.
“The month of July chosen to run CYDES 2023 was not a random decision. July is our Nation’s Bulan Keselamatan Negara (National Secuirty Month), so by running CYDES this year during this month of Security Awareness, we also hope to create awareness on the importance of embracing and embedding cyber hygiene habits amongst our community,” she added.
During the four-day event, CYDES 2023 will include The Malaysia CyberSecurity Eco System Symposium 2023, The 2nd Asean Cyber Security Forum 2023, The 2nd Malaysia Cyber Security Strategy Forum 2023, The 2nd ICTSO (ICT Security Officer) Convention 2023, The Women In Cyber Luncheon 2023 as well as several Government-to-Government Policy Dialogues and bilateral meetings.
The event, which was held for the first time in 2021 in a fully virtual format, carries the theme ‘Embedding Resilience Within Our Cyberspace
